The paper describes that new technologies had an effect on reducing emissions in the past and that additional effects will be likely in the future. However, in order to reach a sustainable development additional key strategies are necessary. These are a closed circulation economy, an exalogical design of products, an internalization of external costs and measures to alleviate the obstacles towards environmental being products and production processes.
