Abstract
The far-field of several PbSe/EuSe buried heterostructure (BH) laser diodes has been measured. An algorithm for the calculation of the propagation constant and transverse mode function of waveguide structures has been used to calculate the near- and far-field pattern. The theoretical and experimental results are presented and compared with each other. Polarization measurements in the far-field show simultaneous emission of transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) modes from some of the laser diodes.
