Title
Hardware implementation of the TV/HDTV upconversion filter for spatially scalable HDTV-codecs
Abstract
An upconversion filter will be described which is the connection between the TV-layer and the two HD-layers of a hierarchical three layer (TV+HD1+HD2) coding scheme. This hierarchical coding scheme is based on the MPEG2 draft international standard (Spatial@H-14). For the source coding of the hierarchy, spatial scalability is used between two levels with different spatial resolutions (TV and HDTV), and SNR scalability is used between two levels with the same spatial resolution (HD1 and HD2).
