Title
In-vitro results of microsurgical anastomosis by laser tissue soldering
Abstract
Connection of small vessels is done usually by suturing which is cumbersome. Therefore we propose a suture-less process using a diode laser, albumin solder and a specially designed instrument. The preparation of bioresorbable stents, the consistency and doping of solder, a prototype instrument and the irradiation conditions are worked out. The experiments are carried out in-vitro on sperm ducts of Sprague-Dowlae rats. The short-term rupture strength of laser anastomosis revealed as high as those achieved by suturing, but the time consumption was substantially less. The extension of this technique to blood vessels as well as similar structures will pose an important advancement in operation technique.
