Wertstromdesign in der variantenreichen Produktion

Als Hilfsmittel und Navigationsinstrument für die Einführung von Lean Production dient die Methode "Wertstromdesign", die sich konsequent auf den Fluss von Informationen und Material konzentriert, ohne sich im Detail zu verlieren. Diese Methode bietet zwar eine Reihe von Vorteilen, benötigt aber für die variantenreiche Produktion Ergänzungen. Das Konzept der sogenannten Variantenwertströme umfasst eine Vorgehensweise zur Strukturierung der Produktion nach Lean-Prinzipien sowie die zugehörigen Konzepte für die Produktionssteuerung und die simulationsunterstützte Erarbeitung variantenreicher Wertstromszenarien. Dieser Beitrag soll eine Übersicht über das Wertstromdesign geben, die Methode der Variantenwertströme darstellen, mit deren Hilfe die Anwendung des Wertstromdesigns in der variantenreichen Produktion signifikant erleichtert wird, und seine Nutzenpotenziale an Praxisbeispielen verdeutlichen.

The concept of lean production is - despite it has been around for a long time already - is still considered being extremely uncompromising and it often contradicts conventional ideas how to organise production. But, in most cases, lean production achieves amazing improvements in productivity and speed when done rigorously. However, most success stories originate from low mix manufacturing, in many cases even from single-product mass manufacturing. In these types of manufacturing, routings are very similar. In small and medium-sized companies with high mix production, becoming lean is more difficult. Value stream mapping, a method that focuses on the flow of information and material and that avoids unnecessary details, serves as a tool and a navigation instrument for the implementation of lean production. This method offers a number of advantages, but in order to use it in high mix production, extensions are needed. The concept of so-called variant value streams comprises a methodology to structure production according to lean principles, corresponding concepts for production control, and the development of high mix value stream scenarios with the help of dynamic modelling. This article gives an overview of value stream mapping. Furthermore, it presents the method variant value streams, that significantly simplifies the usage of value stream mapping in high mix production, and explains the benefits of variant value streams using industry use cases.
