Title

Charged membrane enzyme reactors for continuous regeneration of native coenzymes. II. Synthesis of hydrophobic compounds with NADP(H) dependent dehydrogenases

Other Title
Enzymreaktoren mit geladenen Membranen für die kontinuierliche Regeneration nativer Coenzyme. II. Synthese hydrophober Verbindungen durch NADP(H)-abhängige Dehydrogenasen
Abstract
Alcohol dehydrogenase, 12-alpha-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase and glutamate dehydrogenase were succesfully used over long time periods in continuous experiments for stereospecific redox reactions. With alcohol dehydrogenase from Thermoanaerobium brockii the enantiomeric alcohol S-sulcatol was produced which serves as a pheromone. The cofactor NADP(H) was regenerated succesfully with the coupled substrate approach. Important parameters for the economic feasability of the processes are evaluated. With 12-alpha-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase cholic acid was converted to 12-keto-chenodeoxycholic acid which is an intermediate for a drug for dissolution of gallstones.
