Title

Coenzyme-depenent enzymatic synthesis of fine chemicals. Optimization of enzyme reactors with an external filtration unit

Abstract
In previous studies it was shown that the performance of enzyme catalyzed reactions depends strongly on the kinetics and on the type of reactor employed (1). Therefore, the suitability of the 2 continuous reactors CSTR (stirred tank reactor) and PFR (plug flow reactor) was studied in theory and experiment. Both the CSTR and the PFR are operated in the recycle mode. Using soluble enzymes, the reactors are followed by an ultrafiltration unit where the low molecular weight products are separated from the catalysts.
