Title

Towards robust close-talking microphone arrays for noise reduction in mobile phones

Abstract
Close-talking differential microphone arrays (CTMAs) inherently suppress farfield noise while emphasizing desired nearfield signals. This paper discusses the applicability of CTMAs for noise reduction in mobile phones. In this paper, we propose a method for noise reduction in mobile phones based on CTMAs. In order to utilize the advantages of CTMAs, this contribution examines the possibility performing online calibration and steering a null to the rear of the phone. Experiments with recorded data demonstrate the effectiveness of this method.
