Title

All-optical 3R-regeneration for photonic networks

Abstract
Key functional blocks of all-optical 3R-regeneration for photonic networks are discussed. The state of the art of 3R-regeneration based on all-optical components are described. A novel all-optical ADC (Alternating Data Clock) 3R regenerator architecture will be presented. It combines regeneration with a flexible wavelength conversion and has the potential to avoid high power amplification with EDFAs for the switching function, which is an important advantage for application in WDM systems.
