UT by electromagnetic transducers - state of technology and applications in industry

Electromagnetic Ultrasonic (EMUS) testing systems are now ready for being used for a wide spectrum of industrial testing problems which can be solved much better by EMUS-techniques than by conventional piezoelectric techniques. Under the main headlines +quality assurance (QS) during fabrication +pre-service inspection +in-service-surveillance during operation examples are presented : Hot inspection during fabrication of steel products (CC-slabs), ISI of the treas of railways wheels, ISI of austenitic welds, dissimilar welds and cladding. Continuous surveillance from outside of the water level in BWR-vessels at operation temperatures, texture analysis of cold rolled strips.
