A modular training system for distributed multimedia platforms in SMEs

This paper presents the architecture and implementation of a Modular Training System for networked workstations and Personal Computers. The emphasis of this system is on telecommunication-centred interactive multimedia technology, extending training beyond individual classrooms. Both, the media storage/access control in a client/server environment and the person-to-person communication needs of such a system are addressed. The target user group of the Modular Training System is the technical staff of small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs).
