Cascaded in-line optical amplifiers in multichannel coherent optical transmission

In coherent optical two-channel DPSK-systems containing cascaded optical amplifiers various sources of channel interference are investigated. The authors show that the 30 dB-gain of the optical amplifiers can be fully converted into an increased transmission span.
