Regionale Bindungen und Strukturwandel

Start-ups in knowledge-intensive services contribute decisively to national and regional structural change. Against this background it is the authors' objective to analyse the foundation pattern of knowledge-intensive services, their regional ties and their functional integration, supported by measures of regional innovation governance. Taking the example of the innovation system of Bremen, it will be shown which regional supply and demand conditions support the emergence and development of knowledge-intensive service firms and which ties can be identified in this environment, characterised by a catching-up technological and knowledge-based regional development process. Finally, innovation policy conclusions for a further support of knowledge-intensive service start-ups will be derived.
