Title
Improving rotation-invariance for texture classification through randomization of operator orientation
Abstract
The rotation-invariance of texture features is improved by randomizing the orientations for which features are extracted. This approach is applied to features based on local binary patterns as well as to sum and difference histograms. Results are given for a difficult classification problem of 15 different Brodatz textures and 7 rotation angles. The effect of randomization is highlighted for periodic textures.
