New ways in the plant management

This paper describes results of several applied research projects of the Fraunhofer Institute of Factory Operation and Automation, which were realized in Co-operation with industrial enterprises. Effective plant management requires vision beyond the planning up to operating a future plant. The simulation as well as tools developed recently to the analysis and evaluation allowed the combination to the planning and the operating level and improved the transparency in planning and business processes. An essential aspect is the possibility of the examination of the consequences of planned measures under operating conditions and the reassignment of the knowledge resulting from this into the planning.
