In view of the growing attention for the subject of energy efficiency, the presentation of the energetic quality of drive technologies increasingly gains in importance. In the field of compressed air technology energy flow charts are often used for this purpose. In spite of its clearness this form of presentation has weaknesses. A new calculation and balancing regulation on the basis of the exergy is recommended. It enables the generation of an exergy flow chart, which illustrates the typical load cases appearing in a compressed air system.
