Value stream mapping has emerged as a preferred way to implement the lean approach. Nevertheless the method has crucial deficiencies. Through the integration of value stream mapping and simulation those deficiencies can be compensated. Hence the benefits of Lean-optimizations can be evaluated before physical implementation. The approach is described using the example of an automotive supplier.
