Biotechnology in Germany

An input-output model was utilised to calculate the employment impacts of biotechnology in Germany for the year 2004 and 2020. The model calculations encompass the core sectors, important application industries and input effects in upstream supplier sectors. The strengths, weaknesses, risks and chances of biotechnology in the business location Germany are analysed in order to examine whether Germany is sufficiently attractive to realise the employment potentials.
