Title
Microstructures and functional properties of Al2O3 and TiO2 suspension sprayed coatings: An overview
Abstract
This paper presents an overview of current research activities on the properties and functionalities of finely structured alumina (Al2O3) and titania (TiO2) coatings prepared by modified techniques of spraying with suspensions. Coating microstructures and phase compositions are discussed as a result of interactions between different operating parameters. Results of the authors recent research activities are presented. In the case of Al2O3, efforts were made to retain a high ratio of the thermodynamically stable a-phase without any post treatment or alloying. For TiO2 coatings, the work was focused on preserving the anatase crystalline phase due to its functionalities for the photocatalytic degradation of pollutants.
