Titel
Knowledge-based diagnosis in manufacturing systems
Abstract
The article describes the known state-of-the-art of knowledge-based diagnostic systems in manufacturing. It relays, furthermore, practical experience in the development of knowledge-based systems and gives an example of a developed system for the automobile industry. This particular system is able to diagnose faults on a production line with 21 stations for body assembly. The system can be operated without any special computer knowledge or knowledge of artificial intelligence. Finally, an outlook on the further development-potential of diagnostic systems and their integration in computerintegrated manufacturing systems is given.
