Title
Prototype of a solar driven steam jet ejector chiller
Abstract
Fraunhofer UMSICHT and AEE INTEC together with partners have developed a prototype of a solar driven steam jet ejector chiller (SJEC). The SJEC is adapted to operate with parabolic trough collectors. The system has a cold capacity of 5 kWth and was put into operation in summer 2009. The solar SJEC is completely automated. This paper describes the system and presents the first measurement data of the test operation. A prototype of a small solar driven steam jet ejector chiller coupled with parabolic trough collectors has been developed and built. The solar SJEC is completely automated. First tests show reliable operation behaviour. Further tests during the summer of 2009 will have to show the efficiency that could be reached with the prototype. Throughout these tests, the operation behaviour of the system will be optimized by adjusting control parameters.
