Progress in non-czochralski growth of silicon for solar cells

With a growing market for solar cell materials cost effective non-Czochralski techniques for the crystallization of silicon may become more important. Casting techniques are now dominant but sheet/foil/ribbon techniques remain under development. The status of the main efforts in these fields is reviewed.
