Title
2 mu m CMOS broadband switching matrix and its use in a larger exchange
Abstract
Starting with a concept of a broadband switching system for local area, a broadband switch has been developed and experimentally built in the Heinrich Hertz Institute. It has 4096 input and output lines and a TV distributor switch for 70 Mbit/s. The basic unit is a broadband 16*16 matrix which has been implemented as a 2.4 k gate array in 2 mu m CMOS technology. The low power consumption of the matrix (500 mW) made it possible to achieve a compact design of the exchange.
