Title
Opportunistic 5G Spectrum Usage for Nomadic Ad-Hoc Emergency Communication
Abstract
In disaster situations, where infrastructure is compromised, rapid deployment of reliable and secure communication systems is crucial for effective crisis management. This paper introduces the concept of an ad-hoc communication system utilizing opportunistic 5G spectrum usage for relief organizations. We propose a system architecture that integrates spectrum sensing, database lookups and access cell configuration into a software defined wireless backhaul network to establish a reliable and self-organizing emergency communication system. A proof of concept shows the feasibility of our system, and with respect to private local 5G networks we discuss the German regulations for frequency assignment.
