Title

RDC-Datenverbundsystem mit Datex-P-Verbindung.

Other Title
RDC-communication-system with Datex-P-Interconnections
Abstract
Open systems as defined by the ISO Reference Model of Open Systems Interconnection are not yet available for the present generation of process automation computers. This paper describes a data communication network as solution to the problem of coupling hosts from different manufacturers into a heterogeneous data-sharing system. The communication network is a packet-switching system with end-to-end-control supported by an adaptive routing algorithm, consisting of minicomputers as switch nodes of the net connected by transmission lines. The lines and link procedures (HDLC) are controlled by micro-computers, so-called procedure processors. Host are linked to the nodes by means of dedicated procedure processors mapping the host protocol onto neutral netprotocols and vice versa. Some applications of the system as local area network linked by private lines as well as the interconnection of local subnetworks by means of the german public data network Datex-P are shown. (IITB)
