Title

UV-spektroskopische Analyse von Wasser auf aromatische Kohlenwasserstoffe

Other Title
UV-spectroscopic analysis of water for aromatic hydrocarbons
Abstract
In this paper a novel UV-spectroscopic measurement technique is proposed which gains in selectivity and detection limit by the use of the derivatives of the transmission spectrum with respect to wavelength. In contrast to numerical differentiation this new method has an enhanced signal-to-noise-ratio due to the generation of the derivatives in an optical manner. Several specific device parameters can be chosen such that the spectrometer is easily adaptable to a new measurement task. As application examples we describe the monitoring of water for aromatic hydrocarbons like Benzene, Toluene and Xylene, as well as the process control in chemical industry.
