Abstract
The properties of semiconducting infrared detectors and diode lasers relevant to spectroscopic applications are briefly reviewed. A novel modular diode laser spectrometer, a diode laser operated multicomponent car exhaust emissions measurement system and a broad band source multichannel near-infrared spectrometer are presented and discussed.
