Title

Towards a Customizable Domain Analysis Framework: Initial Lessons from the Field

Abstract
When attempting to perform a domain analysis, practitioners face a difficult choice. Which of the existing methods should be used and will the chosen one work in their particular settings? We present in this position paper an overview of our initial experience applying different domain analysis methods within both a small group of industrial organizations as well as an academic environment. We review the methods' observed strengths as well as their shortcomings. Drawing upon this review, we motivate the need for a simple, yet customizable domain analysis framework. Such a framework is then outlined, analyzed and an initial validation is presented.
