Title

Replacement of Polymeric PFAS in Industrial Applications with Harsh Environments

Abstract
A desktop-study on the challenges and possibilities to replace polymeric per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in industrial applications with harsh environments. The rationale for a far-reaching restriction of the use of PFAS is presented, and the (planned) legislative measures in the USA and the EU are compared. Based on a survey of the scientific literature and interviews with industrial researchers dealing with the replacements of PFAS, the possibilities and consequences of a replacement of polymeric are summarized. Alternatives to a far-reaching restriction for the use of polymeric PFAS are discussed.
