Title

Production-ready method of quantifying adhesion properties non-destructive testing of adhesive joints

Abstract
Numerous feasibility studies have clearly demonstrated that using shearography to record local thermoelastic effects allows for the precise, cost-effective, non-destructive quantification of adhesion properties in bonded composite structures. As the relationship between thermoelastic deformation and adhesion properties depends on the sample, this relationship has to be determined individually in each case, either by means of experiments or digital simulations. There is a wide variety of applications for this method. It can be integrated into the production process for the purpose of carrying out automated quality assurance procedures. In addition, it can be used to test components which are already in use. It also offers numerous benefits in the field of research and development and enables the impact of surface modifications, such as plasma treatments, to be assessed effectively.
