Identification of urban noise sources by means of machine learning methods
Abstract
The objective measurement of noise in urban environments can help to understand the subjective perception of noise better. The research project "StadtLärm" has developed a first technical system for this purpose. Here, acoustic sensors not only measure the noise levels, but also identify the predominant noise source. A field trial proves the applicability of the system. It is thus an ideal starting point for further investigations in the field of noise research.
