Title

Modal noise and optical feedback in high-speed optical systems at 0.85 mu m

Abstract
The most critical interferences in optical broadband communication systems at 0.85 mu m are the modal noise in a graded-index fibre and the feedback problems in DH semiconductor lasers. Experiments with these two phenomena in a high-speed digital transmission system are described.
