Parasitic effects in EMI filters

EMC requirements run contrary to the trend of size and cost reduction in power electronics. Especially in high power density converters close component placement leads to severe electromagnetic interaction, at first in EMI filters. This paper introduces methods to predict coupling effects and derives easy-to-use design rules. These rules are implemented in a placement tool for filter components.
