Title

Feasibility Study on Simulating a 3D Furnace Including the Effects of Reactions and Vaporization

Abstract
We describe a model for a furnace process which consists of a coupled multiphysics problem for the three phases solid, gaseous and melt with regards to an energy equation, a radiative transfer equation and a Navier-Stokes equation of the flow. Vaporization and an exothermic reaction in the melt are modeled by an effective specific heat capacity which is derived a priori by solving a system of ODEs. We present numerical results for a demonstrational scenario.
