Information logistics is concerned with the information processing infrastructure of production enterprises. A general principle of duality provides a structural mapping of application systems onto the related information processing systems. These systems, according to logistic systems for materials and energy, comprise modelling, transportation and storage of information. The interdependencies of these issues are of particular importance. Engineering of information logistic systems will start from information modelling and will provide optimal solutions for the information processing infrastructure.
