Java und Rich Media - Widerspruch oder Ergänzung?

This paper discusses the DVB-H (digital video broadcasting) transmission standards, and describes the European Union "MOBISERVE" project, which is being carried out by a Dutch, three French and six Chinese companies and a German university. The project is to study and produce hardware prototypes for the new interactive services based on DVB-H, 2.5G and WLA standards. Details of the software platform are presented. Reference is made to MOBISERVE interactive services, using JAVA-based Rich Media Technologies (JRM) or XML-based Rich Media Technologies (XRM). The paper shows a MOBISERVE demonstration hardware platform, and suggests applications.
