Title
Estimation-based torque tracking control for a nacelle test rig
Abstract
This paper presents the design and implementation of an effective control structure for the application of torsional dynamic loads on a specimen in a full-scale wind turbine nacelle test rig. The control objective arises from the inherent torsional characteristics of the drive train as well as the dynamic performance demand introduced by the complete electrical certification procedure performed at the test rig. The control problem is even more challenging since only a minimized measurement system is meant to be utilized by the controller. Therefore, test rig drive train has been modelled and a high performance estimation-based control strategy has been proposed. For an evaluation of the controller performance, simulation and real-time experimental results are provided which demonstrate the effectiveness of the controller within the desired dynamic requirement.
