Transparent interconnection of multi-vendor metropolitan sub-networks

Abstract
This paper describes the interconnection of two experimental metropolitan sub-networks realized within the KomNet field trial. Important aspects such as the development of cost-effective DWDM networking technologies and common network management systems are emphasized.
