Assessment of prepress formats

The goal of this assessment is to examine the existing formats in the area of prepress, in order to extract the type of information they support and the way this information is described. The document analyzes the IT(.1-5 formats, the vendor specific formats HandShake, Freeway, ChromaLink and Omega as well as the functionality of the page description language PostScript. The main creterias for the analysis is the grade of ability to distinguish between Functionality, Encoding and Media. Other Creterias are the readability and the redundancy grade of the information descriptions. In addition to the individual description for each document, a survey of the functionality of the documents support is given in the form of a chart.
