The explosive character of the eastward electrojet during the substorm event on April 1, 1986

Abstract
Investigations of the substorm event on April 1, 1986 show that a short-time sudden appearance of an intensive eastward electrojet can take place during a well-developed convective westward electrojet. This eastward electrojet is explosive in character, similar to the explosive westward electrojet, and is accompanied by precipitation of energetic electrons.
