Title

Millimeter resolution SAR imaging of infrastructure in the lower THz region using MIRANDA-300

Abstract
This paper describes the Set-up of the MIRANDA-300 street borne SAR system as well as measurements and possible applications. The millimeter wave FMCW radar is operated at 300 GHz and provides a bandwidth of more than 40 GHz leading to a range resolution of a few millimeters. Using new semiconductor technologies, the system is compact and lightweight. The transmitted signal exhibits only low absorption due to smoke, fog and dust and the system is independent from sunlight. Additionally, very small metallic objects as well as the roughness of streets can be measured. This offers the opportunity for new applications like mobile mapping, which is currently dominated by optical systems.
