Title

Optimum parameters of a digital 1.12 Gbit/s fibre system

Abstract
General results are given for optical gigabit-transmission systems and the repeater design respectively. Systems using single-mode or graded-index optical fibres are compared with respect to the eye-diagram and the quantized feedback. On the base of the foregoing results and the measured performances of the system components the optimum repeater parameters of a 1.12 Gbit/s system are calculated.
