Titel

Review of potential use of graphene as barrier layer

Abstract
Due to its extraordinary barrier properties, graphene is examined for a wide range of applications. Graphene is impermeable even to the smallest hydrogen and helium atoms. Barrier layers made of graphene can be composed of monolayer graphene synthesized via chemical vapour deposition. Furthermore, graphene nanoplatelets can be incorporated in matrix material for barrier purposes. The maximal barrier function can be achieved with optimized alignment of graphene nanoplatelets in the matrix material. The impermeability of graphene enables its usage for various applications. This review investigates the usage of graphene nanoplatelets as barrier material.
