Title

Simulation and optimization of biological processes in stirred tank reactors

Abstract
To model fermentation processes, both the microbial kinectics and the operational behaviour of the bioreactor have to be considered. In our simulation program the models for process engineering and biological processes are formulated separately and implemented in a suitable program structure. Concentration modifications in the macroscopic space and mass transfer rates represent the interface information for coupling the biological models with the process engineering computer programm.
