This Part of the CGI standard describes techniques for accessing and controlling features specific to raster graphics devices. These devices consist of a display surface which displays an image stored as points. The colour of each point (pixel) on the display surface is determined from a value in storage. The contents of device storage can be copied, and imformation in two or more areas can be combined in various ways, with the results placed back in storage. While the geometric functionality of other Parts of this standard may be used to achieve the same displayed effects as some of the raster functionality, there are combinations of devices and usages for which direct use of the raster functionality may be more appropriate or more efficient.
