3D-Printing in Packaging

The role of 3D printing in the packaging industry has become manifold due to the uncomplicated way of replicating parts from different materials. This article gives a systematic overview on the fields of application of 3D printing in packaging and on the way how different 3D printing technologies are generating advantages. The examples range from packaging development, thermoforming, pulp molding and tube forming to special machine parts and linkage elements giving more detailed insight into arising opportunities through additive manufacturing and show the integral entanglement of this subgroup of manufacturing processes.
