Title

Interrelations of comfort parameters in a simulated aircraft cabin

Abstract
A study on the impact of different levels of the environmental parameters pressure (P), air temperature (TA), relative humidity (RH) and sound pressure level (SPL) on the perception of comfort was performed in a simulated aircraft environment. 40 subjects have been acquired for each of the tests and filled out questionnaires regarding their perceived environmental comfort. Each test consisted of a pre-baseline, a simulated 7h flight and a post-baseline. The comfort votes at the end of the simulated flight and the pre-baseline have been compared at the different environmental conditions. Interrelations of thermal comfort and temperature and noise could be confirmed. Moreover thermal comfort was influenced by low pressure when the background noise was at a lower level. There were hardly any effects on hygric comfort. The interrelation of acoustical comfort and background noise level could be confirmed, hardly any effect was found for temperature.
