Bioraffinerien

Bioraffinerien sind Produktionssysteme zur möglichst umfassenden stofflichen und energetischen Nutzung von Biomasse. Es handelt sich dabei um komplexe Anlagen, in denen die Biomasse durch diverse miteinander verzahnte chemische, physikalische und biochemische Prozesse in eine Vielzahl von Produkten umgewandelt wird. Zwar besteht noch großer Forschungs- und Entwicklungsbedarf, um alle petrochemischen Produkte ersetzen und in Bioraffinerien ökonomisch herstellen zu können. Mit zunehmender Verknappung bzw. Verteuerung fossiler Rohstoffe wird sich aber zunehmend eine biobasierte Ökonomie entwickeln.

Biorefinery is the co-production of a spectrum of bio-based products and energy from biomass. These are complex facilities that integrate chemical, physical and biochemical processes to produce a variety of products. Though still a lot of research and development is required to replace all petrochemical products in an economic viable way a more and more bio-based economy will develop because of increasing costs for fossil raw materials.
