Industrial Process Heat: Solar Thermal Energy Is more Cost-effective than Natural Gas

Solar thermal systems can generate industrial process heat at a lower cost than natural gas systems and can supply part of a company's energy needs. This is the conclusion of a study published in May 2025 by Fraunhofer ISE. Payback periods for solar thermal plants are typically between three and ten years.
