Title

Grinding Process Simulation with FEM

Abstract
Increased quality requirements, high process safety and low production cost are the demands that are made on modern, efficient grinding methods. In order to fulfil these contradictory aims, an exact knowledge of the grinding process is necessary. The grinding process shall be simulated for this purpose on the basis of models. A FEM-model of the workpiece was developed for the simulation. The shape deviation of the workpiece can be calculated considering the machine setting parameters, the process parameters and the properties of the material. Thus, the use for a near process quality control of the grinding process is possible. The aim of the simulation is to determine optimized setting parameters before grinding to save time and cost in consideration of quality requirements.
